Chisholm Build

So as you read previously we bought a Block of land in Chisholm, Newcastle.

We put a deposit down in December last year and exchanged in January after the christmas shut down.

We were tossing up between two builders in the end.... Beechwood or Mojo Homes.

They both gave the pros and cons however in the end Beechwood gave us an extra bedroom, large outdoor area, cheaper and overall bigger. It was a no brainer, financially it made sense. We choose the Verdelho twist 5 with Grand Terrazza.

I let Beechwood know my concerns and they are completely aware of what we didn't like last time and what can I say.. so far I can not fault them. (Fingers crossed it continues to go smoothly)

We paid our deposit in the beginning of February and we received our first drawn plans and tender variation whilst we were in America.
Let me tell you it gets expensive over there to print the pages out to sign and send back to Beechwood and boy was it hard to find somewhere to do it lol!

We received the plans on the 19th February 2016.

Second set of plans and tender variation received on the 8th of April - this came in at perfect timing as the plan and variation was at exactly what we wanted and we were due to settle on the land on the 14th April!

As soon as we settled we were ready to go off and get CDC approval.

Approval came back super quick on the 6th of May which only took 3 weeks!

What was even quicker was our colour selections! We were booked in for the 11th of May.

As you can see it has all gone so quick and smoothly and we couldn't be happier! Lets hope the rest continues this smoothly!

Where are we now?

Well it's been a while since I checked in!

So what have we been up to?

Well we have gotten married, gone on our honeymoon, travelled to America for 6 weeks for our main and second honeymoon 😊 (guilty of splurging hehe) oh and we bought ANOTHER block of land!! Surprise 😊

The second block of land is in a beautiful new estate in Chisholm called Harvest Estate. Although this won't be our home to move into it is going to be an investment which if I'm honest I will be slightly jealous of! It's better than our house now!! Lol

See the next few posts for further updates.

But until then enjoy some snaps of our house 😊

Update on the progress!

Well it's been another 2 or so months since I last posted and again so much as happened!

It's true what they say, your house is never truly finished. You will always find something else to do.

And in our case that meant ripping out perfectly good tiles to the splash back in the laundry and taking it back to the studs to re-do the tiling as well as changing over all the tapware and accessories to matte black. My obsession at the moment!

We decided to go for a hexagon marble tile and I absolutely LOVE it. It's stunning!

We also have finished off the small side with some stepping stones, pebbles and a little garden and also our very own veggie garden.

We then also ripped out the UGLY cheapo temporary letterbox and made a new one, which now compliments the rest of the house.

Nice and settled!

So... I have a confession. I have been absolutely terrible in updating since we moved in! Its been 7 months.. crazy i know! We have finished the house (apart from the small side which has been started) in between trying to finish we have had our wedding, honeymoon and a brother who had a bad car accident which meant our household of 2 with 2 dogs  went to 8! And 4 dogs as my brother, his wife and 2 kids needed to move in till he recovered enough to navigate stairs and of course i forgot to mention my parents sold their family house of 22 years and are building so they also moved in!

So i am hoping you all can forgive me for the lack of updates! Anyway here is some photos!

Hope you like it :)

1 week to go!!!!

So I have been a little quiet on here lately! Apologies however life has just gotten so busy with packing, organising and work has been insane since the crazy storms we had!!

A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks with the tiling being completed, the painting started and almost complete inside today and the plumbing rough in completed and the electrical rough in started! We are so so close to the end it is unbelievable!

It has been super hard getting photos of the painting as his stuff has been everywhere and we have been going after work which means it gets dark pretty quickly after arriving.

The colour we picked for our wall is Taubman's Stonebridge, it is absolutely stunning on the walls! We are over the moon with our choice and couldn't be happier!

Can't wait to get some more photos to show you all!

Don't you just love our beautiful standard toilets?

My favourite!!! The beautiful oven and range hood!
